10. Damage to front jacks and cross member as a result of them digging into the road over an abnormal gulley. This would not occur with the jacks as fitted to 35-EX in France, but various difficulties prevent them being standardised at present. Design Dept. are looking into raising jacks 1". Breakage of rollers carrying steering cam roller follower. Failure attributed to loads in excess of those which would occur in ordinary service. Roller with stronger bearings will come on with Wraith wheel movement. Rubber stop for clutch pedal on pedal plate collapsed. A tougher rubber is required. Filter in radiator outlet choked up causing over heating. These had only just gone on to production and have been recalled. An alternative arrangement for preventing lumps of solder reaching the pump is being prepared. Bad radiator shake, throughout mileage causing breakage of stays. Removing the triangular stays altogether gave a 90% cure of the radiator shake. A modification using the central bonnet hinge pin as a stay is suggested. Failure of rear rubber buffers and consequent damage through excessive axle movement. Packard type buffers are available for test on next car. Rapid and excessive burning of points of K.L.G. F.E.30.K. and F.E.30.I.U. sparking plugs also cracked insulators. This trouble was aggravated by running at high speeds on weak mixtures due to petrol starvation. New plugs fitted after starvation had been overcome by a modified petrol system, did not burn more rapidly than usual. | ||
