-2- They see no difficulty in making the frame side members .080" thick. Frame Cross. It was confirmed that it is impossible to press the four vertical faces of the frame cross as four pieces. It will be necessary to produce them as eight pieces welded together at the centre by either gas or arc welding. It was considered that these eight simple and small dies would not cost materially any more than the two large dies of Wraith II. If there is any increase at all it will result from increased labour of assembly of a larger number of pieces. There is no difficulty in making the cross in .072" or .064" sheet steel. It was considered possible that the pressings would be facilitated if the vertical sides of the box could meet at their thrust point instead of at a radius, and we promised to consider this when doing the full sized scheme of the cross. We are going ahead now with a view to instructing this frame. Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} | ||
