Sg. {Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} from Rm. {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} 1300. Rm {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} 4/R.12.2.37. STEERING GEARS - ALL CARS. Replying to Sg {Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} 2/E.10.2.37, we should like to get hold of Mr. McFarlane's 25/30 H.P. car. We never expect a 25/30 to steer like a Bentley, on the other hand, we do not agree that with the Marles steering this car is in any way inferior to a similar chassis fitted with the Worm and Nut gear. It will be remembered that we investigated a similar trouble on GUL.1, and found this was due to lack of lubrication of the pivot - see Hs {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} /Rm {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} 17/KW.18.8.36. If we could have the opportunity of examining Mr. McFarlane's car, we could determine whether or not he was suffering from the same trouble. Rm. {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
