AND QUOTE REFERENCE CMC/MEN IN YOUR REPLY 26th May, 1937. Messrs. Rolls-Royce, Ltd., Derby. Gentlemen, Your ref. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Wst.6/AP. We are very sorry to learn from your letter of May 25th that you have experienced trouble with gas leakage in some of the new Corundite plugs. Will you please let us know whether this has occurred equally in the FE.30x and the FLB.30x, or is it confined to one type; also whether it has been noticeable in recent deliveries as being more or less than in earlier deliveries. As you know the plug required for your engine is of non-standard dimensions and this has involved our making some variations from standard practice in manufacture. We certainly had difficulties at the outset, but now we believe that we have overcome them. However, we are this week sending the Foreman of our Assembly Shop to Germany to study this operation on the spot so as to ensure that what we are doing now is correct. We should have no objection whatsoever to your issuing a specification for sparking plugs and if the Writer can give any assistance in drafting this we will do all in our power to help. The two plugs in question have not yet reached us, but as soon as they do we will examine them carefully and again report to you. Yours faithfully, p.p. K.L.G. SPARKING PLUGS LIMITED. Director. | ||
