TO BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} FROM DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} SECRET. ORIGINAL DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}3/M24.7.24. Copy to CG. HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} E.A.C. 11. FRONT AXLE CONTROL. X8420 X8240 Herewith we send N.scheme 1827., shewing the boss on the lower part of the front axle to receive the ball end for the radius rods. This is slightly different from N.scheme 1811. which was originally intended for double radius rods.. It is not intended to alter the axle in any way except that the cross steering tube has to be raised to clear the radius rod,and we believe that this can be done without lengthen-ing the cross steering levers because of the remov-al of the flange on the drum. It will be necess-ary to set down the middle of the tube about 1". We should be glad if Derby would set this out again themselves. Particulars of the rear end will follow immediately.
