W/P - SR/VA. 1243 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/JBD.{John B. Dixon - Fuel Systems}16/JH.3.8.37. We are despatching to you today one end cutter and bush for centralizing the pole pieces on the S.U. petrol pumps. The bush to be bolted on to the magnet unit. A good finish on the cut can be obtained if only slight pressure is used and the cutter turned only the one way. The cut should only be carried down until the cutter reaches the brass plate. Variation in the amount the pole piece is out of centre will in some cases leave one side of the pole untouched. This is unavoidable but after cutting the amount of eccentricity is halved. Important. Great care must be taken to remove all metal particles after the operation as the pole piece is magnetic and if these are not removed will cause sticking of the armature. It is advisable to blow the whole unit out with compressed air. Very little or no benefit will be obtained unless new rollers are fitted and if the armature is worn this also should be replaced. Pumps which have been centred should be marked with a C. The latest specification should be marked G5SC the S being the oil silk. The G5 is for the material and brass valves. If there is still difficulty in obtaining replacement parts will you let me know what you require. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/JBD.{John B. Dixon - Fuel Systems} | ||
