Dear Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer},

With reference to your Bentley crank pin trouble, I quote here-with a paragraph from a letter which I have just received from Heron on this matter. I admit that it does not help you very much but thought you would like to have his comments.

"The Rolls-Royce crank pin trouble on the Bentley cars is a bit mysterious and I shall have to think about this some more. However, in my opinion, the trouble is related to water being centrifuged out in the pins. If this trouble was solely related to the reaction of aluminium with oil containing the products of combustion of Ethyl Gasoline, aluminium crank cases would, obviously, be impossible."

If he gives me any further information regarding this I will pass it on to you.

Yours sincerely,
F.R. Banks
