Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} X306 BY/Cgh.{W Clough}1/G.6.3.36. PHANTOM 111 - HAND BRAKE LEVER. We have received N.Sch.4770 showing modification to the rachet teeth of the hand brake lever quadrant which is intended to make it easier to disengage the pawl from the rachet. The Works have produced 200 sets of pawls and have cut teeth in about 2 dozen quadrants to the present dimensions, therefore will you please let us know if the trouble in question is sufficiently serious to justify scrapping these parts or should we wait until you have tested modified parts to make sure that it is alright and does not have any disability, such as being too easy to disengage.
