Dear Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer},

Concerning the Bentley at Montlhery, I think Sleator will be sending you a report which we dictated together yesterday afternoon in Paris, which will cover most of the points, and in addition to this I have seen Dunlops in London this morning after the trials and arranged to have the tyres sent over from Paris to Fort Dunlop, such as we used on the hour etc., in order to obtain any data. Without going through a long rigmarole in this letter, I have given the fullest information to Dunlops to the tyres required, and they will be getting in touch with you direct from Birmingham.

In confidence, I tried my hardest to get these tyres free, but they said that they must treat it as all other 24 hours records in connection with the manufacture, and give me a very special price which they say is lower than their cost. I am sorry about this, but I did my level best, and I told them also to get in touch with you with regard to customs, as you may have some special facilities with the Government in connection with aero engines etc., and this is a very important point. But Birmingham has been instructed to discuss all this with you in Derby.

I also saw the fuel people this morning, having arranged to get all the re-fueling apparatus re-conditioned at Montlhery, and a drum of B.P. Ethyl has been sent up to you for bench purposes.

You will, of course, verify, as indicated to me, whether this fuel is entirely satisfactory for the engine you have in mind, and I should very much like this information as quickly as possible, because all the fuel is going to be sent

P.T.O.
