YOUR REF OUR REF NR/MG. 12th January, 1939. Messrs. Rolls-Royce, Ltd., D E R B Y. For the attention of Mr. Grylls: Dear Sirs, We have received the Bentley Wheel Hub and Wheel Nut, and further samples to your Order are now in hand. As explained to you on the telephone, the first sample which we made to your drawing was unsuitable for the Wheel and the Spinning Chuck required modification. You kindly asked us to quote for 1000 Wheel Discs of this type, and we have pleasure in enclosing our quotation. We would mention, that a suitable finish to eliminate the possibility of rusting has been included. This is somewhat more expensive than normal chromium finish. Our experience shows that the best process is nickel, copper, nickel chrome. We regret we cannot quote for these discs in stainless steel as we do not consider the spinning method to be practical in this material. We would also point out that finishing in stove enamel cannot be satisfactorily carried out on a disc with a part chrome finish of this design. | ||
