[crossed out] BY/LC/H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} 18.1.26. NEW PHANTOMCodename for PHANTOM I SPARE WHEEL CARRIER. ------------------------------ The position it is proposed to standardize for the spare wheel carrier is as follows:- 5.350" from the back of the dash to the centre line of the spare wheel carrier, the spare wheel being forward of the dash. From the outside of the frame to the centre line of the wheel is 10.500" and the dimension from the bottom of the frame to the bottom of the wheel where it rests in the tray is 12.675" as per blueprint which I attach hereto. When fitting the spare wheel in the above position it will mean that the bonnet handle, and possibly therefore the lock, will have to be moved forward. This spare wheel scheme also demands the Goshawk type of clip. The scheme has not yet been standardized, but if and when it is standardized the above proposal is what is intended by the Standardization Sheet. With reference to Arrangement Drawing F.73362, this was produced for a special chassis and was not intended to be used as a general construction. Will Mr.Oldham kindly note this point, so that in future if and when a side spare wheel carrier is called for, he will know that:- a/- The scheme has not yet been standardized and must therefore be special for the customer's chassis. b/- The correct dimensions are those shown on blueprint attached hereto.
