Bentley Complaints contd:

Axle failures

It was pointed out that it would be sometime before we were in a position to fit strengthened shafts and drivers in cases of failure.

GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} and FK/KC reported that they had carefully analysed the history of cars suffering from axle failures and had been unable to discover any consistent evidence of bad driving.

Brake squeaks.

It had been originally instructed that the latest BZ. linings should only be fitted in conjunction with 35°cams and anti-judder pieces. GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} reported that these linings had been fitted with success to one car without 35° cams, and it was agreed that in view of this the modified cam angle was not necessary.

Revolution Counter.

Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} wishes the Bentley to be fitted with a revolution counter of which a finger sticksin the maximum reading position if 4500 rpm. is exceeded.

Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} promised to look into the question of how soon this modification can be introduced.

GENERAL COMPLAINTS.

Customers' Complaint Forms.

Cases have arisen where more than one complaint form has been filled in to cover the same repair job. This has occurred when a Bentley has been received by Kingsbury with serious trouble and has been sent up to the Works for repair. It was agreed in such cases that a sheet should be made out by Derby and that Kingsbury should inform S. by memo what action has been taken by them.
