40/50 S.S. TUBE.

In order to obtain a S.S. tube with the minimum number of bends we have been trying various alterations. We find that if we raise the ball pin centre .100 on the steering arm, we can utilise the scheme with ends to N.Sch.2031, bent only as was the tube for D2. series. This tube we find may foul 20% of the step-irons. We suggest that for chassis already built the 20% of the step-irons should be treated as is the attached sample.

We recommend that the step-iron should be heated locally by means of an oxy-acetelyne flame to put this bend in it, this will not affect the heat treatment of the section that takes the major bending moment. We are satisfied from Experimental Tests that the tube we hand to you will clear the axle under attainable driving conditions.
