x1282 Exptl. Dept. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}1/KW. 3rd October, 1934. Messrs. Cleveland Petroleum Products Ltd., Central House, Upper Woburn Place, London, W.C.1. Dear Sirs, Thank you for your letter of the 27th ult. We shall be glad if you will let us have the reference of our letter of May 1st, because we are not carrying out any tests altering the air valve to enable our carburetter to deal with alcohol fuel. The reason we are not doing this is because we do not recommend Cleveland Discol for Rolls-Royce cars. Our reason for this is that we do not think a customer could possibly get any more out of this fuel than he would out of the ordinary No. 1 petrol which is sold to-day. It is possible that we may be in a position to take advantage of the higher anti-detonation of Cleveland Discol fuel on the Bentley cars in the immediate future. Here we may definitely require the higher anti-knock value of this fuel. We will let you know when we propose to start such tests, and shall be glad of your co-operation in the matter. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
