ENGINE (a) Cont'd (iii) For your records the unit is going on 15,000 miles test as follows and as existing:- (1) Cam balance tappets removed. (2) End thrust plunger on camshaft (Ex.29816) (3) Six oil fling holes in rim of damper wheel blanked. 8 holes drilled in centre plate in accordance with Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}485. Check slipper damper poundage which should be 17 lbs. at 17 1/2" rad. (4) Examine pistons as these are a new set, having had trouble with original set in 'picking up.' (b) Cyl.head thermometer pocket. Modify cylinder head to have SCD.177 scheme of thermometer bulb position - fit thermometer bulb in this position. (c) Clutch Fit thermoid faced driven plate. Test poundage of thrust springs and report. (d) Carburetter. Modify to Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}467. Feed hole from float chamber to main jet .156" dia. instead of .106" Accelerator pump leather piston. Main jet .063" Choke torsion spring E.61387. Choke butterfly spindle bearings reamed .253" dia. Float needle seating to be .113. GEARBOX (1) Fully isolated gear lever GWD.4/5, GCD.125, N.Sch.5145 with vent hole. (2) Bushes and clearances as on up-to-date LOP. continued | ||
