Messrs. Rolls Royce Ltd.,

with regard to skirt form apply equally to these, we propose to hold up the grinding unless we hear to the contrary, until you have tested the marking of the P.461 delivery.

EW.2170. We find we can make satisfactory modifications to the die for this job but of course a new corebox is necessary. This is well on the way and we anticipate delivery in about a further three weeks time. We hope that by the time we are ready to grind these Pistons, the matter of our form grinding to obtain the marking will have been settled.

With regard to the Tin coating of Piston Rings, we understand that this process is now specified for all future deliveries, and our orders have been marked accordingly. We assume that in this connection you are referring to the "Cellotin" process based upon the results you have obtained from rings so treated by us.

We hope we do not labour the point if we re-emphasize that such rings are not merely tin plated, and that the acid etching process which precedes the coating is an essential part of the whole. It would be appreciated therefore and also avoid confusion, if on all drawingsand correspondence you were to refer to "Cellotin" rings.

Yours faithfully,
FOR THE LIGHT PRODUCTION CO.LTD.

A.H. Brooks
GENERAL MANAGER.
