c. to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} X7250 BY/SS{S. Smith}1/DB.{Donald Bastow - Suspensions}9.3.27. Re 40/50HP Chassis - Radiator with Integral Shutters. With reference to the recent memos which have passed between W.W. and Derby regarding the depth of the Radiator having Integral Shutters, Mr Hives would like us to instruct, as soon as possible, a radiator for use on a Standard Phantom Chassis, having tubes 4.250 long as mentioned in para. 3. of memo DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}2/M.26.2.27, but of reduced dia: - 6.25 mms. expanded at ends to 7 mms. as suggested in a previous memo of DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}'s. By keeping the Bonnet angle in the same plane as standard (shown on attached sketch), and following the latest experimental radiator practice, the front of the radiator is .250 forward of the corresponding standard position. This design is suitable for making a direct comparison with standard practice, but will require slightly different design when required for EAC.VII or VIII It would appear possible to use in all existing experimental controls except in the case of a few pull rods etc. having different lengths.
