COPY. To:- Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}8/DK.30.7.40. 26 I had a telephone message from Admiral Perry, who is the Admiralty advisor on machine tools. His address is Room 38, Admiralty Archway South, London. He asked the position as regards the machine tools we were purchasing in the U.S.A. I told him that we had reserved three machines but that we were waiting for a report from our people in the U.S.A. to make sure that the machines are going to be satisfactory before we ask for the dollars to purchase. He asked that they should be purchased through the British Purchasing Commission, and that as soon as we were satisfied that the machines were of the type we require we should let him know and he would arrange for the necessary transfer of dollars. I should like to see you about this on Friday morning. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
