Gentlemen,

MACHINES REQUIRED FROM AMERICA FOR
40 mm. GUN PRODUCTION

With reference to telephone conversations of the 23rd July, 1940 (Mr. Robotham/Mr. Smith), regarding your requirements of American machines for the production of 40 mm. Guns for the Admiralty, I shall be glad if you would say whether action has yet been taken to place firm orders for the machines.

If so, will you please arrange for full details of the orders to be furnished, so that necessary action may be taken to cable confirmation to the British Purchasing Commission in America.
