| P. from BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} c. Mr. Warwick. c. EFC. X.4209 BY7-P9.12.20. X.4209 CHASSIS - REAR SPRINGS & FITTINGS. RE IMPROVED TYPE OF WEARING PLATE WHICH LOCATES SIDEWAYS AS WELL AS TAKING THE WEAR OF THE ROLLER. In view of the extremely difficult position which has arisen owing to the springs wearing on the side, and that this cannot be assisted by us insisting on having springs to drawing, it is essential that you should overcome any troubles you have in this direction by fitting the new clips, of which we issued instructions for a dozen sets to be made. Mr. Warwick has a few of these plates which will enable you to carry on. Incidentally, for your own information, we have corrected "P" Series, by ordering the improved plate, and as soon as these become available we will adopt same. Any complaints which arise will have to be dealt with by fitting the new plates, of which we will arrange for you to have a supply, although at the moment the piece has not been standardised. In the meantime, however, cars will have to be despatched with the present scheme until the new plates become available, although the width of the spring is not within drawing size and limits.
