PHANTOM - NEW SLIPPER WHEEL DRIVE. X8300

We have run this a considerable distance on various cars. We find that the slack does increase in the splines in the moving plate with rather undesirable rapidity. Once a certain amount of slack has developed, the increase is more rapid.

Half a degree of slack is sufficient to impair enormously the action of the damper in eliminating harmonics.

We propose to run this damper on the 40/50 car which follows the sports car to France.

As so far our tests definitely indicate that these splines will give trouble on production and in service, and which we find are very difficult to make satisfactorily initially, we should like you to know whether you could give us a spring-mounted plate as in the original 20 HP..modified damper.
