RE 40/50 H.P. MAGNETO STRAP.

With reference to your scheme N.123, would you kindly note that Mr. Royce approves of the magneto being canted to an angle of 20º, and does not think we should make it less.

To avoid having weak aluminium lugs, however, for securing the clamping bolt, he wishes the 20 H.P. strap to be used, in which the metal of the strap is carried right round a suitably shaped waist in the bracket.

The sketches below shew how this should be applied to the 40/50 H.P. If the magneto strap shewn on LeC.1131 be scaled up in proportion to the magnetos, it should be suitable.

It is desirable, Mr. Royce points out, in making the design, to place the two cross pin members of the strap as far apart as possible, so that when the magneto is detached, the strap will not have to open very far.
