[Signature] Phantom III Carburetter. Modifications to Existing Model Carburetter. We should be pleased if you would make the following modifications to the existing model carburetter made by Mr. Brock, in order to bring it up to date as far as the functional parts are concerned. This carburetter should then be tested as soon as possible on a chassis. 1. Larger tapping in float chamber lid{A. J. Lidsey} for enlarged drain pipe to LeC 5001. 2. Modified choke control bell crank lever for increased travel of choke between stops E.88057 and E.88058. (This lever is now made up of two parts as the production of a pressing with an extruded bush was considered too difficult). 3. Modified choke cam RS.{Sir Henry Royce's Secretary}179 (This part has already been instructed and we understand is in hand). 4. Modified torsion springs to LeC 5017. (These will be instructed under a separate memo.) 5. The correct gland spring for the accelerator pump gland to E.87935 should be fitted. This will necessitate unsweating the tube which was used to lengthen the accelerator pump spindle. 6. Throttle spring to E.88851 should be fitted with a shortened link, .750" long, to E.87856. We should also be pleased if you would leave the choke control bell crank lever torsion spring off, as we feel that it will not be necessary on our carburetters with a positively operated choke control, in place of the wire operation on the Stromberg carburetter.
