Messrs. Rolls Royce Ltd.,
DERBY.

For the attention of Mr. Fowler Clark.

Dear Sirs,

In reply to yours of the 17th inst. re burnt cell to cell connections on 40/50 H.P. battery, we did not quite realise that Mr. Baily and Mr. Fowler Clark, as well as Mr. Royce, were in favour of the bolted connections.

The reason why we advocate the burnt connections is not because of the slightly cheaper construction, we think it is a better job, impossible to come undone or get loose, fewer parts, no possibility of corrosion, less maintenance (no greasing), more certain contact, and since the separate cells are now done away with we can see no remaining arguments for the bolted connections.

In view of these remarks perhaps you would kindly look into the matter again, as you promise. We believe, from conversations we have had with the Chloride Co. that they would concur in this.

Yours faithfully,
PETO & RADFORD.

G R N Minchin
