X4244 BY2/H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} 10. 8. 22. Mr. D'Aeth. cft. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Mr. Vale. Mr. Brock. GOSHAWK II, RE FERODO FABRIC FOR CLUTCH PLATES. Will you kindly note that we should at once arrange to take out the wire connecting the loose ends of the Ferodo before finally riveting up into position, as the wire in question is useless after the fabric is rivetted on to the plate. As a matter of fact, it tends to tear up the clutch disc. When the wire is deleted, we should add two more rivet holes which should come on the centre line of the Ferodo, and should be spaced .300" to the centre of the hole from the joint on the Ferodo, so that the two holes will have a pitch of .600" from the centre of one to the centre of the other. The above settles the question for production for the present. In the meantime, in order that we may be able to use the tubular rivet with the solid end which we can buy out very cheaply, I would like Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} to make up a clutch disc using the rivets in question, altering the distance from the outside and inner edges of the fabric respectively from its present dimension of approximately .250" to .312" which means that we will move the rivets inwards .062", the object being to make the outer edge of the hole as far from the edge of the fabric with the new rivet as done at present. It should be noted that one of the additional rivets will come into the plug securing one of the fittings for the withdrawal lever, but the plug should be drilled through and a rather longer rivet fitted, and form the flange on the inner end of the rivet, that is, inside the plug, before putting it into position.
