| COMMENTS RE. CHASSIS CONFERENCE AGENDA. RHC {R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} /SB. {Mr Bull/Mr Bannister} 14.5.38. BY {R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} /NS. {Norman Scott} 18/G.27.4.38. 1381 SUBJECT. REMARKS. (1) DYNAMO ARMATURE. It is stated on By's agenda that vellumoid washers will not cure leaks from dynamo roller bearing. The scheme has not actually been tried, but it is obvious that a considerable improvement would result, and it is therefore still contended that these washers should be introduced as soon as possible. Originally requested verbally by Smd. {J. Smedley} to By {R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} /RD. Nov.1937. (2) EXHAUST SYSTEM. Stated on agenda that four drawings covering alteration to anchor bracket and backing plate were issued on 30.3.38. Actually, only two of these drawings were received and the remaining two, (EW.663 and EW.1028) have still not been received by Expl. Prodn. Dept. (3) GEARBOX. Steel inserts for setscrews which retain selector cover were requested on 21.2.38. Detail drawings of setscrews and inserts issued by D.O.25.4.38, but not added to LOP., and a query is raised on By's. agenda as to whether these are really necessary. These inserts are definitely necessary because all holes in alum. castings are tapped .002 small to ensure that studs fit tightly, and it is not practicable to tap odd holes to nominal size to make them suitable for setscrews. | ||
