For the attention of Mr. Nicholls

Dear Sirs,

With reference to your letter of the 27th inst. ref. S.1. we should very much like to meet Mr. E.A. Watson and suggest any day next week would be suitable - perhaps you will make arrangements accordingly. In the meantime we are arranging to despatch to you under separate cover the Smith electric clock which you kindly sent to us for approval test.

We have examined this clock and tested same and whilst the clock keeps fairly good time we are not satisfied with the electrical arrangement owing to reasons which we fully stated in our previous letter.

The question of electric clocks will be more fully decided upon after the visit of your Mr. Watson. In the meantime we are looking forward with interest to receiving from you the sample instrument patch which we presume will be temporarily fitted with an ordinary hand wound time piece.

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED.
