POSITION FOR 'PHANTOM' STARTING HANDLE.

BJO/H12.1.26.

There is no available room on either side of the dashboard for the fitting of brackets to carry the starting handle. The only reasonable and accessible position appears to be on the near side of the engine, the handle could be conveniently carried in two spring clips bolted to the lower flange of the side channel, while another clip on the upper flange of the side channel fitted with a wing nut, would secure the starting handle crank in a nearly vertical position. The starting handle in this position would be quite accessible and could be made easily detachable from its clips. It does not look very unsightly as the major portion of it is hidden by the side channel.

This position appears the only reasonable one where the starting handle could be carried.

If the clip were made so that it would hold the crank firmly, two spring clips would provide quite sufficient mounting to prevent rattle.

We do not recommend this position for the handle, but if it must be carried in an accessible position, and the coach-building section cannot make a suitable place for it, the place we suggest is the most convenient.
