Herewith report from Gardiner on yesterday's London traffic running - "Engine" - Roar very noticeable above 40. Engine gears have developed loud thrash period at 7-800 R.P.M. Slow run good idling fair. Clutch - Maintains smoothness with no sign of slip after 12 hours continuous traffic and covering 81 miles. Pedal pressure about std. Gear box - Gears good. Occasionally will not cross gate from 2nd. to 3rd. but not fault of lever sheath. Rear axle - Good. Water - Continuous blind temp. maintained steady at 81º engine and rad. Highest in dense traffic 84º both eng. and rad. Brakes - Good, even, though both fronts squeak badly. Steering - Light, selective. Damper - Hard in soft position up to 30 m.p.h. in Town.
