X3829 To E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}5/KT.7.9.33. LINCOLN 12 CYLINDER CAR. We hand you herewith the Lincoln service manual which we have managed to extract from their sales manager in London. The Lincoln people are absurdly close about the information, and I have promised to send this book back to them by the end of the week. You will remember that we had a lot of argument as to whether the Lincoln had side by side, or forked big end connecting rod bearings. My recollection was, when walking round the factory, that the big end construction was an exact copy of the original 'F' engine. You will see that this is confirmed on page 95. of the manual.
