86116 Cx.{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager} From Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst. c. to E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} c. to By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst.1/MA.13.2.35. HEADLAMPS. We are in receipt of your Cx.{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager}14/KW.12.2.35., and agree that some form of dual switching under the control of the driver would appear to be the universal solution to the problem of single or double dip. We can however arrange the scheme simpler than suggested in your memo by providing a small changeover switch on the instrument board which would be operated to put either one scheme or the other in operation, the foot switch being used for the normal purpose of dipping. The switch could be marked "single dip" and "Double dip" and by merely operating this switch the foot switch would automatically dip either single or double. We attach wiring diagram shewing how this would be carried out. You will be interested to know that we now have on test P.100 headlamps with the new front glass both on bi-focal bulb lamps and dipping reflector type. The general opinion so far is that the new glass is a definite improvement and we hope therefore to issue a recommendation to this effect shortly after Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} has finally tried the lamps out.
