Mr. W. A.{Mr Adams} Robotham,
Rolls-Royce, Limited,
Derby, England.

My dear Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}:

Thank you for your short (and snotty) note of July 2d received today. May I respectfully mention that Cadillac pay my wages?

The Packard synchronizer on the big eight (not on the little one) does definitely steady up the front end. One thinks however that the same weight of metal properly applied in the frame would give as good or better results.

Why do you not so mount the radiator on its springs as to give it the same rocking frequency as the frame, in which case you have the same results with no extra parts? I suggested this if you remember a year ago.

Have already written you that the Cadillac synchro-mesh (under the license for which the Packard makes theirs) is better than the Buick in "posse", - it is like the little girl of legend "when it is good it is very very good". But it is not as easy to achieve a high standard in the Cadillac design, because of the mechanism being spread between shafts and casing. Also perhaps the oil dash-pots do not work quite consistently.

R.R. Ltd. should work on the Cadillac type which (when right) is perfectly unobtrusive in its action.

This does not seem like a lot of information, but in return I have the nerve to ask you for anything you know about --

(a) The Burney and other rear engine cars.
(b) Independent rear wheel jobs like the Sizaire, Cottin Desgouttes, etc.
