File. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}4/AD. August 10th, 1931. M.{Mr Moon / Mr Moore} Olley Esq. Cadillac Motor Car Co. Detroit, Michigan. Dear Cy, There is one point on which I am seeking information and that is, why the American aero engine makers no longer use battery ignition, but from what we know, rely entirely on magnetos. What is the reason why battery ignition appears to have gone out of favour. We are finding now that there is an insistent demand to have engine driven generators on all aero engines, and when this is done there is a great temptation to use battery ignition. I should be very grateful if you could get some of your friends at Delco to let us know why the battery ignition has gone out of favour on U.S.A. aero engines. Yours, | ||
