"THE MOTOR"--continued. -2- impossible for people who have neither lived nor travelled abroad to realise the importance which is attached in the totalitarian countries to supremacy in motor sport, and our non-participation in it has a very damaging effect on our political influence as well as our engineering prestige. So firmly do we believe in the necessity for counter propaganda to the present German racing teams that we shall continue to sponsor this project by every means in our power. Largely as a coincidence, for it was planned a long time ago, the Technical Review for November also deals with racing cars, in this case being description and drawings of the E.R.A. 1½-litre Zoller-supercharged, Porsche-type car with independent suspension. Next month the Technical Review will deal with rotary valves, showing some systems which have been proved by actual service, whilst ensuing Technical Reviews will deal with servo gear changing mechanisms and cast shafts. Hoping that you continue to find this and other articles of interest, and assuring you that if you have any suggestions to offer for improving the paper, they will always be received with pleasure however critical they may be of present contents, Sincerely Yours, TECHNICAL EDITOR. | ||
