HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} ) FROM R.{Sir Henry Royce} BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} ) EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} ) C. to SG.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} WOR.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} 17/8/31 ORIGINAL R4/M15.8.31. Y 6055 BATTERY BOXES. P. 2. ESPECIALLY - 25HP. ALSO. We must wake up on this accessory. Ought not the box itself to be in Staybrite of some simple construction, because wood rots with acid, and steel rusts, and both would soon be unsafe. According to report is it not concluded that we cannot do without the cross tube at the rear [handwritten: for the battery] although this is bad for coachwork? The attempt at a cantilever on P. 2. in France at present is a disgrace, and the result is what we ought to have anticipated, and one would think that the WW. scheme that has been at Derby for nearly a year - and is still not detailed - should be tested before abandoning the cantilever attempt. But let us put some skill and energy into the work until it is successful. JHR. | ||
