Sidgreaves - MD} HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} [strikethrough]OKW.[/strikethrough] RE EUROPEAN PROPAGANDA CAR. PHANTOM II. EV{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}3/11.11.29. [Handwritten] X7770. X7830 X7120. [STAMP] ORIGINAL We send herewith drawings of two cars which we have made at the request of the Export Dept. N.Sch.2952. shews a close-coupled body 4.500.ins. shorter than 18EX. and 1.WJ. The design is unique in that the bonnet hinges are continued as mouldings in the scuttle, making bonnet and scuttle appear to be a unit. The other novel feature is the entire absence of mouldings and a panelled rear trunk. N.Sch. 2960. shews a similar body but still more close-coupled. It will be realised that 18EX. and 1WJ. are not close coupled bodies, but four door saloons. The shortening is achieved by pushing the feet of the rear passengers under the front seat and by sinking them in wells. N.Sch.2961., a lay-out of the seating of N.Sch2960. illustrates this point. This is still a very popular type of car on the Continent, and from our point of view makes a good demonstrator of our chassis as the passengers are well disposed between the axles and the weight is concentrated at the rear. Would you kindly send prints of these drawings to SG.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} WHr.{Mr Wheeler} and an extra set of prints to us at W.WM EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} | ||
