HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} r819. C. to Mr.W or. C. " Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}, DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} C. " EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}Hn.{F. C. Honeyman - Retail orders} re- Body Ventilation. Reference Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}8/E7.11.33, I would like to place on record the fact that with regard to paragraph 2 of Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}'s memo one of our cars with this Fisher ventilation scheme fitted to it will be available complete by the end of this week, namely, GRW-70. The scheme was fitted to this car which has been allotted to the Inspection Department, so that it shall remain in the possession of the Company. Originally it was intended to fit the scheme to GKT-2. Considerable delay took place in our getting hold of the parts, which we had ultimately to obtain from the U.S.A. The suppliers over there have made many promises re delivery, which have been broken, and it has taken a great deal of time to get the parts which are now on GRW-70. We tried at first to obtain the parts in this Country from the General Motors branch over here and also from Vauxhalls, and it was only after prolonged negotiations with that object in view that we had ultimately to apply to America. Had it not been for these unavoidable delays we should have had a car with this system in operation a long time ago. We could of course have taken no action beyond having an Experimental Car available for us to see and try because of the question of the patent and settlement of any royalties to be paid. This apparently has only just been settled, but I believe not yet agreed to by us. The only way in which we could fit a set of these parts to 104-MY at the moment is to make another application to the U.S.A. for them, although it is hoped that as the result of negotiations these will ultimately be obtainable in this Country.
