Messrs.Rolls Royce Ltd., DERBY. Dear Sirs, For the Attention of Mr.A.G.Elliott. We have your favour of the 5th. instant together with drawing LeC.5319 showing modification of Cam design from your drawing No. E.87268, and for which you require equipment to grind the modified cams on our Cam Grinding Machine recently supplied to you. We have been carefully into the matter, and there will be no difficulty in supplying you with the necessary equipment. This will be One Double Master Cam, generated with the modified Cam forms giving exact angular relationship between inlet and exhaust. Also One Special hardened and ground steel Index Plate with two series of 6 index notches marked respectively 'A' and 'B' to give correct angular relationship between the series 'A' and 'B' cams as shown on the drawing of your complete camshaft. There does not appear to be any necessity to use four cams as in your present equipment. We feel sure that the one double Master Cam with the special Index Plate which you require for experimental purposes, will also be quite suitable for production purposes later.
