B.R. Ltd. to Messrs. Rolls-Royce Limited. 17. 3. 1939. Page 2. The second sample consists of 19 wires each .012", giving an overall diameter of .060", the price being 21/-d per 1,000 feet. The third sample consists of 19 wires each .0172" with an overall diameter of .086" and this could be supplied at the rate of 29/-d per 1,000 feet. All these prices apply to quantities up to 19,999 feet but for orders for 20,000 feet and over we could allow a discount of 20%. As mentioned previously, there are several intermediate sizes in both the 7 and 19 wire constructions but no doubt the foregoing information will give you some idea of the types available. We shall, however, be pleased to give you other prices if the samples we are sending are not strictly in accordance with your requirements. It is usual to pack these Strands on wooden reels for which we should charge 2/6d. each for individual lengths up to 1,000 feet and 5/-d each for lengths longer than 1,000 feet. The material quoted for is all Tinned Wire with a tensile stress not exceeding 120/130 tons per square inch. In regard to your reference to Thimbles, so far as our own experience goes, these are rarely used for this class of work although a small size Brass Thimble is available. As, however, Strands of this description cannot be easily spliced it is more usual to adopt End Fittings by means of soldered joints. The prices quoted include delivery and are nett for cash, monthly account. Trusting to be favoured with your instructions in due course, Yours faithfully, for BRITISH ROPES" SOUTHERN (SALES) LTD., H C Ashcroft THESE PRICES ARE SUBJECT TO THE SELLING TERMS SHOWN ON THE ATTACHED PRINTED SLIP. | ||
