We have had trouble with the Bentley car running at Chateauroux owing to an axle tube breaking. The reason of the failure is due to an error on the production drawings which left the tubes much too thin. A spare tube has been sent out there to get the car running and the correct tubes will follow on in a few days. The other modification we are carrying out on this car is changing over from the mechanical pump to the electrical pump.

In view of our difficulties we think it would be unwise to interfere in any way with the running of the car at Chateauroux. We have discussed this point with Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} and he agrees. If you consider it is essential for Geoffrey Smith to try the Bentley car we would much prefer to loan you the open Bentley so that it could be used for the express purpose of giving a demonstration, rather than interfere with the car at Chateauroux.
