We have received instructions from HJ, through WG{Mr Gill - Financial Director}, permitting us to order up 300 sets of material for a further series of 40/50 HP. chassis.

I have discussed the matter with HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} and with certain provisos which I am giving below, we should order up all the material for same, and see that our sheets are issued as quickly as possible. In any case they must all be issued by May 15th.

"E" Dept.

There are no modifications which I know of in this Department which have to be introduced.

"G" Dept.

We do not propose at this stage to bring in the new spring locked sliding mechanism produced in accordance with Arrangement G.74674, the reason being that although this particular scheme was standardised in January, we found it was not a production job to apply it to the existing box and try and bring it in at once, as definite clearances had to be made in the box to ensure the spring locks getting thoroughly home into their retainers.

In view of this, therefore we shall order up the first 100 sets of the side lever mechanism in accordance with the present standard. The second half should be held over for the present, until I see whether it is possible for the new box which is well on the way, to be built up and tried out for:-

a/- Clearances.

b/- Make sure the torsionally free scheme is correct, as it will have to be modified in certain particulars.
