Dear Sirs,

Re Motor Brake Linings.

We thank you for your letter dated 25th March, and we are pleased to note that you will collaborate with us with a view to supplying us with a brake lining meeting our requirements.

We have immediately started to make a rig to enable us to get reliable and consistent figures of the /u variation we want to measure, as so far we have not been very scientific about /u speed values except in the case of wet judders.

We enclose a print of the piece of friction lining we should require for rig tests, but we suggest that before you start to make anything we should get our rig working so as to give you as much accurate information as possible regarding different general types of lining.

We hope this method of approach to the problem is satisfactory to you.

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD.
