Our Ref: S/KGC/AC. 3rd October 1938. For the attention of Mr Whyman Dear Sirs, We are despatching to you tonight by Pickfords the intake silencer for the Bentley, and trust this will reach you in time to be fitted to the car before it leaves for the Continent. You will note that the screens which cover the filters are not attached to the silencer shell in the same manner as your samples which we have here, but that method could be adopted should it be preferred. We are also sending you tonight a further experimental exhaust silencer for the Bentley. This is of an entirely new design and we would therefore ask that you test this with a completely open mind. A somewhat similar silencer has actually been tested on a car of somewhat smaller capacity than the Bentley, but in this case it was used in conjunction with an auxiliary 18" x 5" rear silencer. This we understand gave very satisfactory results. We shall be very interested to hear from you further with regard to this matter in due course. Yours faithfully, BURGESS PRODUCTS COMPANY LTD.
