We are pleased to hear that you are interested in bent "TripleX" Toughened and the following are a few particulars :- We have supplied quite considerable quantities and it is long since out of the experimental stage, having proved quite satisfactory; quite a high degree of accuracy can be maintained. We can bend to quite a variety of curves and, of course, as far as cost is concerned, a great deal depends on the shape, and the quantity as if only a few are required the cost of the glass, plus former and setting up charges spread over a small number naturally makes the glass per piece somewhat expensive, whereas if a large number is taken the cost is not so very much more than for the flat glass, to take an example :- A Backlight in Toughened Plate 30" x 12", bent to a simple curve of, say, ½" at the centre from the flat, would now cost approximately 15/- each, but there would be the cost of the former at between £6 and £7 and a setting up charge of 25/-. Is the foregoing sufficient information for your present enquiry as a subject such as this can be dealt with so much better in conversation, but I take it that your letter is a preliminary to possible developments. Perhaps one of these days we could meet and chat the matter over, but in the meantime if there is any further information you would like please let us know. Kindest regards, Yours sincerely Jack W. Follett Sales Manager. [Handwritten note bottom left: An 24/8/40] | ||
