Hotel de France. Chateauroux. Indre. To Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} From G.W.H. 18. G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} IV. We have received your memo Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}5/ET 29/5/33 RE HYDRAULIC DAMPERS We trust W. Bell will be able to make the glands free from oil leaks. He is heating up the glands after fitting the new packing. We did not do this with the packing sent out, but did so with our own make. We are giving W. Bell a free hand with the exception of the O.S.R. which we shall watch. HEAT UNDER THE SCUTTLE. We note your remarks re. lowered bonnet. ---------- We received your telegram re; fitting of axle at Sèvres. Evidently you were under some misapprehension. It was impossible to get the car to Sèvres without either towing it or putting it on a truck. The front brakes had to be dismantled and numerous stops made to get the car back to here some thirty miles. The axle was taken off and sent to Sèvres via Mr. Sleator in the Humber car. The remaining parts are here. These will be collated and sent to Paris, the whole then will be crated up and returned to Derby. Sèvres informed me that the pivot pin of the F.S. was bent when they dismantled it. G.W.H. | ||
