EXPERIMENTAL REPORT.

Expl. No. REF:

TESTS OF 'B' TYPE PEDALS.

A pressure of 48 lbs. was assumed as the load on the clutch pedal at a radius of 13.450" (The distance between the pedal shaft centre and the centre of the stem). On this assumption there is a compressive load in the connecting link of :-

48 X 13.450 x 1/2.750 = 234.7 lbs.

This is the load on the end of the 6.000" clutch operating lever.

The maximum clutch movement taken by an indicator on the clutch plate lever adjusting screw, with direct leverage i.e. the pedals were disconnected and a long tube was placed on the clutch operating lever. The clutch trunnion was set as far back as possible to ensure full movement of the plate. The maximum movement was found to be .089"

The maximum movement of the clutch plate was then taken, with the pedals connected, and was found to be .067".

The plate movement was then found for each 1/4" movement of the pedals (Table 1.)

N.B. All these tests were taken with the top half of the clutch casing removed.
