Use of Ethyl Petrol.

Since its inception the Bentley has been designed to run on Ethyl petrol. This year the other Rolls-Royce models have been brought into line with the Bentley, and now the 25/30 and the Phantom III can be run on leaded fuels without harmful effects to the engine.

The compression ratio of the Phantom III and the 25/30 is such that they will give satisfactory results on almost any touring car spirit available. The main advantage to be gained from the use of Ethyl in these cars, therefore, is a prolongation of the period required between one decarbonisation and another. In every case where an owner complains of pinking he can be recommended to run on Ethyl.

As we have already pointed out in Depot Sheet No. Hd.{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy}294, the Bentley - being a high performance chassis - is essentially designed to run on the best anti-knock fuel widely distributed, and this is Ethyl Petrol.
