GWH{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} see me #S W/S. To G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} E.6/HP.9.5.34. c.c. Mr. Nor. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} NP. Mr. JLE.{J. Lee Evans - Chassis Test Manager} Sft.{Mr Swift} re. Fires on Bentley - K.1/HP.5.5.34. ------------------------------------- Referring to your memo G.1/C.9.5.34, we have today issued a scheme - Lec.3911 for fitting banjo connections to the floatchambers. A blueprint has been forwarded to the experimental Department for these to be rigged up with all possible speed and tested. Apart from the question of flooding, it is important to find out if any change will be necessary, to the carburetter needle should the balance of the floatchamber be affected. This scheme also cancels the flooding device on the floatchambers. Instructions have already been issued to replace the spring wire plug terminals with milled nuts and spring washers. We are also looking into the question of improving the present floatchamber needle so as to make it less liable to jam. It is an inverted needle with the guide below the needle seat. We believe that any grit or foreign particles in the petrol tends to settle in this guide and we propose to try a grooved needle so as to provide an immediate way out for the grit, on the supposition that it is more likely to flow down through the groove if this ready means of exit is provided.
