EXTRACT FROM :- x800 BY/Cgh{W Clough}5/G.5.7.30. REPORT ON TESTS OF COMPLETED CARS. -------------------------- X.5770. X.7770. With reference to Da{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/EV{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}1/M.26.6.30., we give below our reply to the various points which affect this Dept. :- (6) We note that you see no difficulty in having a continuous wire to the head lamps, but we are of the opinion that we could also have continuous wires to the wing lamps. Sales Department have asked us to let them know what the extra cost would be if all chassis were wired up with double wiring, so that either double filament headlamps, bi-focal, dimmers or a centre lamp may be fitted as required by the customers, and to enable approximate cost figures to be worked out we have produced D.Sch.417 showing the double wiring and foot switch, also an alternative proposal of using a Junction box when a foot switch is not required. The junction box could be fitted as standard and wired up for the normal headlamp supply. This junction box would be replaced by the foot switch when required and the wiring altered to suit. The double wires for the headlamps or centre lamp, as the case may be would be left long enough for either of these, and if the second wires were not required they could be cut and secured inside the frame as shewn in the top left hand corner of this drawing. The drawing, of course, only shows a first attempt and apart from the arrangement of the double wiring the junction box requires further consideration. Possibly this could be made much smaller and mounted in some suitable position on the dash as a standard job, and when a foot switch is required the junction box could be removed and the wires carried forward to the foot switch. However, we should be glad if you would go into this matter, and let us have your final recommendations. (8) We will arrange to increase the length of the head lamp brackets bolts as suggested. | ||
