The advantage of this steering of the light is most effective in fog too. In ordinary headlights that part of the light which otherwise dazzles on-coming vehicles is thrown back at the driver. It is unnecessary to enlarge on the disadvantages of driving through fog. In the „Intensive“ headlight non-dazzle is achieved in fog also through deviation of the glaring light-beam into the required direction. In order to cope with special requirements for driving in hilly country the construction provides a tilting device operated by simply pressing a button by means of which the bulb is so tilted that if the beam of light touches the vertex of an undulation the light is shifted on to the decline. In recapitulating it can be said that apart from the advantage that this headlight is equipped with one bulb only and that without necessitating dimming operations, it functions as non-dazzling curve-light, its light-beam intensively illuminates the portion of the road immediately in front of the car as well as that far ahead and both sides of the road, so that the road is brightly lighted up in driving straight as well as in going round corners, throughout the entire length of the light-beam, without dazzling on-coming vehicles. Manufacture. The manufacture of the „Intensiv“ headlight is just as simple as that of ordinary headlights. The casing and the reflecting mirror are either pressed or drawn from brass of the usual thickness. Glass, either plain or fancy plate-glass or convexed glass of either description can be used. The moving of the reflecting mirror is achieved by an efficient device the parts of which can also easily be mass-produced. The hydraulic-magnetic steering of the lights is done by using the usual brake-liquid and a special current- and tension-coil made from ordinary material. Its mass-production is also very simple. The total cost of production for the „Intensive“ high performance headlight therefore, if mass production is properly organized, is not greater than that of ordinary headlights, that don't offer the host of advantages the „Intensive“ offers. === Patent protection in all principal countries. | ||
